It takes a while to really get involved and to fully understand what's happening, but the stories and the complexity of the games is truely staggering. I would almost class Dwarf Fortress less as a game, and more as a Story Producer. What DF has that gnomoria doesn't, is the stories. You don't hear people saying how Call of Duty is a clone of Doom, DF is a genre-defining game. I get a little tired of this off-the-cuff remark, because DF is simply the first of it's kind, the first of this genre (which i'm still trying to define.). You'll often get told that Gnomoria is simply just a DF clone. That's not to say you can't do complicated things in the game, but thats very much the feel. It's easy to pick up and play for a little bit, then go off and do other things. Gnomoria in my opinion is aimed much more towards casual gaming. That said, it's just an investment of time to understand whats going on, nothing is confusing for me anymore. I've played a bit of gnomoria, and i'll be honest, DF is definitely more confusing that gnomoria.
